There are not enough new ideas, there is no particular visual performance. You launch any project and immediately remember the dozen of its relatives. But today we will talk about a strategy that differs in almost everything from competitors.

R.U.S.E. By their example, shows why many developers do not like to do something Other. After all, the new is incomprehensible. And today the consumer does not want to understand anything. If there is something that requires active brain activity, you need to click and quickly and quickly start a simple and understandable Modern Warfare 2. Otherwise-oh, it is better not to imagine.

IN R.U.S.E. really at first it’s a little difficult to figure out. Here we built a tank, and it is larger than the factory, wider than the river and longer than the bridge. Leaves and occupies half the base. We remote the camera, so our real “Sherman” just racing will become a chip on the command table at the headquarters. We look around: the radio operators are sitting somewhere nearby, the officers give orders to someone, perhaps shells explode nearby, and at our disposal only the table, which are slowly moving ..

What kind of genre is this?

R.U.S.E. – A mixture of the present Wargame and RTS. From the first noble genre here is a feature of the battles. If there are two tanks on the map, then the one that is better in terms of indicators will win. It is practically pointless to control the combat units during the fight itself, you can retreat and catch up, but do what we see in Starcraft and Warcraft is impossible. As if in Panzer General, we send our troops to a cell where the enemy army is standing, we choose where to attack, we calculate the area of ​​the blow, all sorts of additional modifiers, but the duel itself is not in our jurisdiction.

From RTS here – real time, building base and economic struggle. Troops are hired in special buildings, and money is used to order. And therefore, warehouses with supplies are scattered throughout the map – who captures them, and caravans with gold are traveling to that.

Now, if the brakes were refused ..

With network mode R.U.S.E. I met a few months ago, during a beta test. Therefore, the campaign was interested in a little more – there were still surprises, in the multiplayer everything was and so knows.

But how surprises are healthy, so often they are unsuccessful. The single in its leisurely manages even a Russian man who has slowly harnesses for two centuries to rush faster later. We are an hour and a half, or even more, they introduce us to the course. The first missions are long and absolutely boring.

After half an hour, your tactical genius carefully understands how the situation is with the war here, and conveys the helm of the monkey who simply circles the troops with a frame and with screaming and hooting sends everyone ahead. And the primacy may even smile, because at the end of the battle, everyone will tell him unanimously how clever he was and how wonderful he coped with an incredibly difficult task.

Eugen Systems well, very slowly proceeds to the essence of the matter. The peculiarity of the game – tricks – is reluctant to give us. Force five missions in a row to use the same. Yes, and constant repetitions: protect this area, repay a stranger and protect it, correctly arrange the guns and create a good defense. Turned out, by golly.

In theory, there should still be a strong plot, but … it is rather banal and a little strange. The developers, apparently, tried to smooth out the impression of the innovative gaming process and therefore stuffed a sexy young lady in the videos, which every time in a languid voice whispers one of the generals – how well he is, that he is a real winner. Then she will also seduce our hero, but everything will be … you will see what it turns out, but I promise nothing interesting.

Without leisurely AI

Network mode – already a completely different thing. As usual, there is no need to wait for anything here, there is no one to harness, and every battle, especially if you play a little, is just a fairy tale and a song.

R.U.S.E. adopted the dynamics (but not speed!) RTS. It is only we should build the first combat unit, as we immediately rush to interfere with the enemy. We try to knock out caravans, prevent us from capturing more resource bases, just scout. The opponent reacts instantly: sent a tank? So get the assault on the air from the air! Anti -aircraft guns go on the attack? Heavy armored vehicles will deal with them.

The charm is that there is no microcontrol, your APM can be left in the hallway on the cabinet near the keys, it is pointless to force the mouse here. It is much more important to be able to

choose the right combination of troops and predict the enemy’s actions. You are building aircraft, which means that the enemy will invest in anti -aircraft guns, and it is best to break them with tanks, which he may respond to anti -tank guns. What should we do? Go to the infantry.

Even the struggle for the economic advantage is unhurried, there is no speed of landing from Starcraft 2 – when you do not have time to think even for a second, but you have to act already. The main thing here is to calculate the actions of the opponent. If you saw that he immediately plays through heavy equipment, then it will be difficult for him to control the card, you can use it. Or, if we massively rivet the infantry somewhere in the center of the map and do not let the enemy breathe, we immediately capture resource points, because the warfare cannot bomb our base yet.

Moreover, each nation still has its own characteristics. The French are hardly frightening you with tanks, but these gentlemen are able to withstand even penetrating massive attacks – they have magnificent protective structures. Infantry in the forests, bunkers in an open field – and hello, what to do with this?

The USSR is famous for a powerful artillery, which hits almost through the entire map, the Germans have amazing tanks, the British can throw the landing on your head in the first seconds of the party, and the USA has excellent self -propelled anti -aircraft guns. And such individual features in each side-at least five to six. R.U.S.E. Really diverse. And it makes you always take into account many factors and extremely accurately monitor the actions of the enemy.

However, something is still wrong. You take the right actions, accurately guess the plans of the enemy, in response to aviation put anti -aircraft guns, on its “tiger” answer – roll out anti -tank guns. But in a decisive battle, the multi -ton charges of artillery are falling upon you, the infantry from the forest suddenly kills half of the army, and the paratroopers are already capturing plants … Um?

The fact is that they did not send heavy equipment against you. The fact that you saw the plant and even the tanks yourself is not a reality. This is an illusion. Cardboard combat vehicles, boards factory. You were circled around a finger and forced to follow the false path. You fought with ghosts.

R.U.S.E. Therefore, ruse – for it means “trick”. In addition to the fact that the game is already deep in itself and is made in the best traditions of complex strategies, there are also such tricks here. You can, for example, hide all the real buildings at the base, but to put a linden airfield somewhere else in another place. The opponent receives this information and orders unnecessary anti -aircraft guns.

The game is not said about this, and no one is shown on the panel, but for units you can set the “hot” keys. Choose a group of soldiers and click “Ctrl + 1 (2, 3, 4)”. There is only a problem – in different detachments you can not throw the same fighters. This is a little strange, but like this … And here there are “hot” keys for construction, their display can be turned on in the main menu. Only if the version R.U.S.E. You have Russian, then all the letters will be Cyrillic, and this is terribly confused after Starcraft, Warcraft, Red Alert and other RTS. See “a” – and poke in English out of habit. And some kind of “p” is completely introduced into a stupor ..

Moreover, a good “scam” is a complex combination of various tricks. Suppose we need to force the enemy to “protect the air” so that we destroy it with heavy equipment. The base was hidden, the wooden airfield was set – this is the first step. But if we go to the enemy with tanks now, then he will quickly notice them and will understand everything. It is necessary to apply another trick – “radio monitoring”. In the selected area, your units are not visible. And so we got to the enemy, he is already nearby, but you never know-suddenly he has troops that can still stand against us? Therefore, we distract attention and let the fake technique on the other hand. Cardboard vehicles move from the west, the warning is surprised, begins to swear that he behaved like talking broccoli and believed in aviation. Therefore, he is quickly distracted by dummies, and we calmly come from the east.

This is an example of victory solely thanks to tricks. The bet on the fact that the enemy does not definitely know what we are doing. But this is a wa-bank-pan or disappeared. In most matches, tricks simply help to better play a party. For example, if you send dummies next to ordinary tanks, then the “dolls” will take on part of the damage. You can use the “wiretap” during the attack, then you will know what orders the enemy gives – it will be easier to catch it, weaken.

And command battles, two or even four by four, is even more interesting. More opportunities for global strategic plans and small curtains. You can invent such schemes!

It’s time to remember that our estimates are not the interest disguised as words. We live without points. We only have a ratio of games. And here is the attitude to R.U.S.E. – Amazing. Yes, the campaign is weak, boring and tiring. For her sake to buy this strategy is not worth. But the network mode is ice cream with chocolate syrup on the table of any sweet tooth.
