Freed from prison, mob captain Dwight “The General”; Manfred is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he and a group of unlikely characters build a new criminal empire. The opening credits sequence features a variety of photographic and painted images, as well as Oklahoma landmarks superimposed on the New York landscape: the Touch the Clouds statue of a Sioux Indian chief; wears War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace (chest plate) attached to the Brooklyn Bridge Gold Digger statue placed on top of the Statue of Liberty. There are several numbered “Avenues” in the Manhattan borough of New York; which are crossed by smaller numbered streets..

I thought it would be a fun show. We’re used to thinking that anything with Stallone in it would be a comedy these days, and The Tulsa King has plenty of humor. However, Taylor Sheridan is not going to make a simple parody of the mafia story and use Stallone as a joke and after the start of a long prison sentence in a new city.
The characters are really likable
When a New York mobster finds his way around Tulsa to make his turf using his “old world,” comedy ensues. ways. While it’s not uncommon to root for the “bad”; the guy as the main character, his straightforwardness and old world common sense values appeal to those of us looking for something refreshing amidst today’s social nonsense.
Stallone gives a great performance
The irony of the message is that it takes a kowtowing thug to break through and expose shallow social hypocrisy. It’s the same formula that made Yellowstone such a success, and Sheridan knows it’s what many of us want. Before he became a caricature in his later roles that propelled the Rocky and Rambo franchises into the ground, his acting and screen presence created those iconic roles.
All in all, a very entertaining show that I’m looking forward to and a great addition to the Paramount+ portfolio
It’s nice to see him back on screen in a role he seems perfect for, and to use a certain cocky persona to add depth to his character and performance instead of detracting from it. Season 5, Episode 2, "The Squid Game" Season 2 and more of the most anticipated new and returning series coming to TV and streaming.
