To escape the police, a son and his father find refuge at a summer camp for young adults with disabilities, posing as a resident and his educator. The beginning of trouble and a wonderful human experience that will change them forever. Artus has always been impressed by the imagination and energy of people with mental disabilities, and he really wanted to show this on screen. He was fascinated by Le huitième jour (1996) and thought at the time that the door was finally open, but it seemed to him that it was closed soon after. During the production of this film, he had to face a lot of negativity, with people casually telling him that “we know they exist; there’s no need to show them!”, which only reinforced his motivation. On the bus, Marc asks Alice if he can put on some music, and when she answers, it’s 10:07 on her phone. When Marc puts on the music, the clock behind him reads 1:04. I chose to watch this movie on a flight with no expectations, but I’m so glad I did. It’s been a while since a movie made me laugh so hard. Being on a plane, I had to hold back my laughter, but inside, I was cracking up! What a joy to watch. The actors are so genuine and endearing. It may resonate more with those familiar with French culture, especially with its setting in the beautiful French countryside. The movie also makes you reflect on the people who work and care for those with ‘a little extra.’ Forget the misery in the news – watch this movie with your family and enjoy!
