American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Tale
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how, thanks to her extraordinary mind, she manages to help solve a crime while reorganizing evidence during her shift as a cleaning lady at the police station. Despite her very high IQ, excellent memory, and deep knowledge of secrets, Morgan makes a series of fundamental legal errors that anyone who has ever watched a legal TV show would know not to make.
Remake of HPI (2021)
In the first episode, for example, she obtains a document from a locked safe at the alleged victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court—evidence obtained illegally. It also cannot be used to obtain other evidence—a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree.” In episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene, and in issue #3, she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making everything she removed no longer admissible in court.
She is kind and funny
High Potential is a fascinating new series in the crime drama genre. The main character of the series is a strong, independent, extremely intelligent but vulnerable woman raising three children.
Caitlin Olsen is fantastic as Morgan
The way the series develops the crime solving is interesting with some great comedic moments. She delivers a performance that instantly makes you like her character and wants to know more.
It is a fun and original hour of entertainment
Judy Reyes and Daniel Suniata are excellent in their supporting roles. Even the children act well and add some comedic moments to the show.
